The Greedy Jackal and the Fighting Goats

One day, as a wise sage was traveling through a dense forest, he came across two magnificent goats engaged in a fierce battle. They butted heads with great force, each unwilling to back down. Their bodies were covered in deep wounds, and blood trickled onto the ground, yet they continued to fight relentlessly.
As the battle raged on, a hungry jackal happened to pass by. He caught the scent of fresh blood and was immediately drawn to the scene. Ignoring the fight, he eagerly began licking the blood that had spilled onto the ground, his hunger blinding him to the danger.
Observing this, the sage shook his head and thought, This jackal is foolish. His greed has clouded his judgment. If he gets too close, he will surely be injured by the fighting rams.
Despite the warning signs, the jackal, driven by his insatiable craving, inched closer and closer, oblivious to the risk. Eventually, he ventured too near, stepping right between the two rams. In their fury, the rams accidentally rammed into the jackal with great force.
With a painful yelp, the jackal collapsed, severely wounded from the impact. His greed had led him straight into harm’s way.
Moral of the Story:
Greed blinds judgment, and ignoring danger for short-term gains can lead to destruction.
