The Jackal and the Drum

The Jackal and the Drum

One day, a hungry jackal wandered through a deserted battlefield, searching for food. The war had long ended, and the ground was littered with broken weapons, tattered banners, and abandoned objects.

As the jackal roamed, he suddenly heard a deep, loud booming sound. Boom! Boom! The noise echoed across the field, sending chills down his spine. He froze in fear, wondering if a mighty beast or a dangerous enemy was nearby.

Cautiously, he crept forward, following the source of the sound. Soon, he discovered a large war drum lying under a tree. The drum was hollow, and the wind was causing its branches to strike against it, producing a terrifying noise.

The jackal sighed in relief. “Ah! I was scared for nothing! It’s just an empty drum making a loud noise.” He then knocked on the drum with his paw and confirmed it was harmless. Finally, he continued on his way, no longer afraid.

Moral: Empty vessels make the loudest noise. Do not be afraid of things that appear threatening without reason.
